The Michael "David" Gira Legacy Fund

Perhaps you knew David Gira....

David Gira was a pastor at HUMC between 2005 and 2013 and led many other NCCUMC churches. After his battle with cancer, David went to the Lord in December of 2023. During his cancer journey, he was called to write a book and 67 devotional to draw cancer patients closer to Christ during their struggle. These devotionals are included in the Inside the Cancer Journey 365-Day Devotional Project which is sponsored by Cancer Companions.

Amy Gira, David's widow, asked Cancer Companions to start the Michael "David"Gira Legacy Fund to perpetuate David's devotionals for future generations. Bishop Shelton has been very supportive by establishing a NCCUMC webpage for the legacy fund, which can be found here.

The Goals of the Michael David Gira Legacy Fund are...

  1. 5 million views of Inside the Cancer Journey devotional project in 10 years.
  2. Printed version of Inside the Cancer Journey devotional project.
  3. Develop David’s Lenten series of cancer devotionals into a cancer Bible Study for anyone to enjoy including Cancer Companions Bible Study Groups nationwide.

David's not done making an impact on the lives of those around him, and we aren't either.
