Merry Christmas! In VBS this past June we unwrapped the gift of Jesus with Christmas in June! We learned about Advent and the Advent candles. We also learned about the angels, shepherds, wise men and the holy family. Our unspoken lessons centered around loving one another, building community and friendship together. It was a wonderful week full of music, games, stories, crafts and most importantly, fun! There were a total of 22 sets of hands and feet volunteering to be examples and lead children to Christ. Our KidServe kids made fleece blankets for donating to a local organization, cleaned up the Prayer Garden, gleaned potatoes with the Society of St. Andrew, built a mud kitchen for the toddler playground and helped to clean up around our Haymount campus. There were a total of 26 children's hearts and minds expanded with the love of Christ! A HUGE thank you goes out to all of the volunteers and donors who support our HUMC Kids and our communities through Vacation Bible School. Please know that your impact on God's kingdom is always, always seen, known, loved and greatly appreciated!
Day Camp at Camp Rockfish is almost here! We'll have full-day day camp: swimming pool, lake swim, canoe rides, mud walks, axe throwing, crafts, Bible study... the list could go on and on! This year we'll even eat lunch in the dining hall with lunches provided by Camp Rockfish -- yummy! Your child is guaranteed to have fun memories and 5 days packed with adventure! If you haven't shared the news with your neighbor, shout it from the mountain tops! Children ages 5 to 14 are welcome to sign up. There is no need for the children that attend Camp to be members of Haymount UMC's congregation, all kids are welcome! Would you like to send your child(ren), but your budget is a little tight? Children's Ministries classrooms are moving to the second floor! When you walk the second floor, you may notice some changes. Rooms are being refreshed and refurbished to move Children's Sunday School rooms upstairs. Our first classes won't start in these rooms until Rally Day in September, but in the mean time you can help contribute to these room makeovers through our Amazon Wish List. If you'd rather not shop on Amazon, but still want to help out, please feel free to shop anywhere else or donate used toys and books that are in "like new" condition.
