Greetings from the Maa Hotel in Nairobi!
The first wave of our team traveled from Fayetteville to Charlotte to London to Nairobi with about 16 hours of time in the air. For those keeping track, Kenya’s local time is seven hours ahead of Fayetteville. So this morning note may catch some of you going to bed.
The team includes Laura Nemecek (ZOE Empowers) and Liz Hoskins (Impact Global Health Alliance), Jennifer and Logan WIlliams, and Karen Barkman, Megan Williams, and myself, from Fayetteville. Tomorrow we will be joined by fellow Haymounters Myra Davis, Chris Droessler, and Donna Frazelle.
To be honest, we are tired. And we are ready for today’s adventure. We will drive North and East out of Nairobi for about six hours to reach the town of Maua. Along the way we circle around Mt. Kenya and cross the Equator (we will send a picture marking that moment). Maua is the home of Maua Methodist Hospital, which provides administrative space to ZOE Empowers.
I will add more as the trip progresses. Please send Morgan a note with your questions so that we can answer your questions.
Peace, Allen Bingham
