Angel Tree: is a Christian-based prison ministry that provides Christmas gifts to children on behalf of their incarcerated parent/s. Each year in late November, two trees are set up with angels that describe the request of the parent for their children. A Christmas to Remember: A Christian-based ministry that originated within HUMC, a Christmas to Remember annually challenges the church’s membership to match its Christmas giving with an equal gift for the Christmas to Remember fund. These gifts are then distributed among selected local, national and international ministries. Our December 2022 gifts went to the Lodge for kitchen rehab, to hurricane disaster relief in Florida and to Eastern Africa for starvation and drought relief. Impact Global Health Alliance: works with local healthcare teams in Central and South America, and Africa, to combat preventable diseases such as malnutrition, pneumonia and complications from childbirth. Healthcare and non-healthcare volunteers are needed, and you do not need to be proficient in a foreign language to participate. Fayetteville Urban Ministries: is a faith-based ministry that focuses on transforming lives in Fayetteville through a variety of programs. The Find-A-Friend youth program mentors troubled youth. The Adult Literacy Program helps adults with reading, education, and job preparation. The Emergency Assistance program supports our neighbors by meeting their basic needs for food, clothing, and crisis support. The Nehemiah Project provides free home repairs to low-income homeowners. Master's Hands Ministry: is a HUMC ministry that provides construction and maintenance to areas affected by hurricanes and other disasters. Handicap ramps are built locally. All hands are welcome. To be a part of the team, contact Al Miller at (910) 527-1805.
Operation Inasmuch: A local, Christian-based mission, OI ministers to the “least of these” of Fayetteville by providing food, shelter and training. On the first Tuesday of every other month, HUMC serves breakfast to the homeless at the OI headquarters. Others volunteer to support men staying in The Lodge through providing dinners, teaching classes, and staying overnight. Haymount and it's volunteers have served 232 homeless and struggling individuals in 2024. ZOE International: is a Christian-based ministry (started by a pastor in the NCCUMC) that transforms the lives of African and Indian orphans over a three-year time frame. The orphans are empowered through a comprehensive training program to help them become economically self-sufficient by providing them the resources needed to achieve that self-sufficiency, often by starting a small business. Haymount is sponsoring its first ever group and in August 2023, we are going to take our second trip visit the ZOE ministry in Kenya! International Students at Methodist University: n partnership with the Global Education Office at Methodist we provide Welcome Packages for incoming international students. Packages include bedding, a pillow, toiletries and snacks. This year we also participated in picking up students from the Fayetteville airport and transporting them to MU. Opportunities exist for hosting international students with a meal, a home visit or some other shared activity.
