  1838 in the fictional German town of Wisborg\, the story follows Thomas H
 utter\, who is sent to Transylvania to meet Count Orlok\, a mysterious cli
 ent planning to buy a house near Hutter’s residence. Hutter discovers Or
 lok’s unusual nature and flees\, while Orlok travels to Wisborg. Ultimat
 ely\, it is Ellen Hutter who pays the sacrifice to save the town. The film
  is known for its expressionist style including elongated shadows\, distor
