We are collecting school supplies for the MERCI Center. A team from Haymount UMC will be going to the MERCI Center with these supplies to assemble School Kits. These kits are distributed to children and schools in need in local communities. The School Kits require specific materials to be assembled, so please be sure to donate only the following specific items:

Good Friday Concert: The Crucifixion by John Stainer
On Good Friday, April 3, at 7:00 PM be sure to join us in our sanctuary as our chancel choir, joined by local singers and orchestra, will present this timeless work. Depicting the Biblical narrative of Jesus’ Passion and Crucifixion, Stainer’s masterpiece sets the stage for the most epic Friday of all time. This event is free and open to all.

Easter Sunrise Service: Join us at 7AM on April 5 on our front lawn as we join together at the start of Easter day together and celebrate Jesus' resurrection.

Easter Contemporary Service: Held at 9AM on April 5 in our New Life Center, our contemporary Easter Service is a family friendly service led by our praise band! Childcare will be provided for infants-preschool aged children.

Easter Traditional Service: Join us in our Sanctuary at 11AM on April 5 for a beautiful traditional Easter Service that will include performances by our choir and other musicians. Childcare will be provided for infants through 3rd grade children. 

Join us on Sunday, March 1 at 4:00 PM as we welcome Olivier Latry, the leading worldwide ambassador for his instrument, the Organ. Latry was named the titular organist at Notre-Dame in Paris when he was 23 years old and has performed in the world’s most prestigious venues! Doors to our sanctuary will open at 3:15PM. The Trustees Committee and our pastoral staff have made a decision, grounded in prayer and care, to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our beloved Haymount United Methodist Church community by canceling all Sunday morning worship services and Sunday school on Sunday, January 25, 2026. While we understand that this news may bring disappointment to some, we want to reassure you that we are committed to fostering nurturing and supportive communication during these times.

As we look ahead to the coming week, please note that our Church Office will adhere to the closure policies set by the Cumberland County School System. If schools close or shift to remote learning, our Church Office will also be closed, and all church activities for that day will be canceled. Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we navigate these challenges together.

As many of you may already know, the current weather forecast for Fayetteville and the surrounding areas is predicting inclement weather this weekend. We want to assure you that our dedicated pastoral and ministry teams are diligently monitoring all weather updates to make informed and thoughtful decisions regarding our Sunday Worship services. At the heart of every decision we make lies our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our staff, congregation, and community. Please trust that all choices will be made with careful consideration of road conditions and other potential hazards.

We aim to provide you with clarity and reassurance, and therefore, a decision regarding the cancellation of any or all Sunday morning worship services and Sunday School will be communicated by Saturday, January 24 at 5:00 PM. Updates will be shared via email, but you can also find information on our website, through our social media platforms, and on ABC 11 News.

As we continue to navigate the challenges presented by inclement weather, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Haymount community for your understanding and support during these times.

Join us on Sunday, November 23 at 2:00 PM in our Commons Room for Griefshare’s workshop, “Surviving the Holidays”. This is a workshop designed to help people cope with grief during the holiday season. It provides a supportive environment where individuals can find encouragement and practical tools to navigate the unique challenges of grieving a loved one during this time. The workshop invludes a video with real-life stories and tips, as well as opportunities for discussion and sharing in a small group setting.

During the months of October and November, our Missions Team will be collecting non-perishable goods to give to Fayetteville Urban Ministry. During all times of the year, but especially approaching the Holiday Season, Fayetteville Urban Ministry's food pantry is greatly utilized by those in need in our community. Haymount UMC would like to make sure we keep their pantry as stocked as possible! Please bring your food drive donations to the boxes in the NLC lobby and outside of our Church Office!

Our annual Trunk or Treat celebration is coming up on October 5! Be sure to join us from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM for this free, family-fun event that is open to the community!

In preparation for this event, we will be accepting individually wrapped candy, treats, or non-food items! Please be sure all donations contain no peanuts, peanut butter, or other nuts! Many of us are heartbroken at the news of the flash flooding that caused mass destruction, and multiple deaths in Texas. If you would like to find a way to give to the disaster relief efforts, below you will find a few options:

If you would like to give to UMCOR through Haymount United Methodist Church you may do so by writing a check to Haymount United Methodist Church with the memo "Texas Flood Relief". This money will go straight to UMCOR relief efforts in that area.

You may also visit the UMCOR website and give directly to UMCOR by clicking here.

You may also give to various other organizations that have sent teams to work on disaster relief in the area such as The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross, and others. Always be sure to donate through official organization websites to avoid the risk of scams.

Help us get Camp Rockfish ready for Summer! 

Our next Service Sunday will be on June 15! Let's help Camp Rockfish start their summer off with a huge splash by supplying them with pool toys they desperately need! Over the summer, the camp's pool toys become worn out and are in need of replacement-here at Haymount, we want to help!
Camp Rockfish has put together a "Wish List" of toyts that they would benefit from. Click the button below to access that list. You can order a toy from that list, or use it as a way to get ideas of a toy you would like to purchase for Camp Rockfish! Be sure to bring your pool toys to the church office no later than June 15! Our 4:12 Tweens will be delivering them to Camp Rockfish on June 16!

Our Ladies Tea turned out to be a fabulous afternoon!  We had 59 in attendance (a few ladies sent their regrets that sickness or family needs would keep them away)!  Our youngest lady that came and enjoyed time with her mom was 9 months old!  A big thank you also goes to 4 area small businesses:  Betty Kelly's, Pink Petunia, The Pilgrim and Bell's Seed Store for their gift card donations that were used for small raffle baskets.  These donations added to the success of the fundraising aspect of the afternoon.  More important than the dollars raised, were the many smiles, conversations and memories made with ladies of all ages from our congregation and beyond.  It is through relationships with others that we begin to build and grow our relationship with God.

I would be remiss if I did not mention the volunteers that were integral in helping to make this event possible.  Nicole Andre, Laurie Doherty, Dayle Fowler, Paula Jennings, Natalie Lewis, Caroline Madsen, Lois and Ken Plummer, Katherine Pugh, and Elle Walker:  Thank you!!  Much appreciation goes to the Youth along with Pastor Donald, Jessica Scott and Anna Bruner who helped set up tables in the Fellowship Hall!  Without all of these volunteers I would have struggled to pull this event together!

Are you in a season of Grief currently?

A 13-week GriefShare class will begin on May 4 and be held weekly on Sunday afternoons from 2-4 PM. This class will be taught by Dorothy Funkhouser, Connie Burry, and Ellen Bowman and will focus on providing valuable guidance and tips to help lead you through the emotions of grief.

The class will take place at Haymount UMC in room 208. The cost of attending this class is $20, and will cover the expenses of all class materials. Scholarships are available to those who are in need.

In life, there are moments that shine brighter than the rest, and this past week was one of those magnificent instances where the Holy Spirit's presence was palpable and electrifying!
Over just four days, our incredible congregation came together in a spectacular show of unity and generosity, raising an astounding $8,155 and counting! It’s a sentiment we express often, yet it bears repeating—how fortunate we are to belong to such a warm-hearted and giving community!
A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who played a role in making these events a success, whether by donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word with enthusiasm. Your efforts have not only supported our ministries but have also woven a stronger bond within our church family.

HUMC Spring Garage Sale: Our HUMC Spring Garage Sale raised $5,400 with funds still coming in! The proceeds from this garage sale will be split with 1/3 of proceeds going to fund Youth Mission trips this summer, and 2/3 of the proceeds being used to help purchase supplies for our mission trip to El Salvador in July.

UWFaith Cookie Sales: During our Garage Sale, the UWFaith sold bags of homemade cookies, and completely sold out of what they had made! They were able to raise $350 to go towards UWFaith projects and mission efforts.

Crop Walk: A team from Haymount UMC partook in, and raised money for the Fayetteville Crop Walk. This fundraiser was to benefit Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty displacement and disaster. In addition to raising funds for CWS, 25% of the funds raised from the Fayetteville Crop Walk went directly to support Fayetteville Urban Ministries in their fights to end hunger in our community. Culver's Percent Night: Our church family showed up in a big way on Monday night as we dined together at Culver's in Hope Mills! 10% of the sales made between 5:00 PM and 7:59 PM were donated towards Haymount UMC's Youth Mission Fund! Between food purchased at Culver's and cash donations made that evening, our youth were able to raise $820!

Beginning March 1, we will be collecting school supplies for School Kits that will be packed and then distributed by the MERCI center. Bring your new school items to one of the designated boxes either outhside the Church Office or in the Lobby of the New Life Center. The school Kits need very specific items to be assembled properly. Please only donate the items we designated on the list below. We will be collecting the items listed below until April 20th. 

We will also be visiting the MERCI Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina to help with the packing and assembling of these School Kits on April 26. If you would like to know more about this visit to the MERCI Center, or ways that you can help, contact our Church Office! 

Due to the approaching winter storm, our Church Office, as well as our Preschool Program have both been canceled for Wednesday, February 19. This cancelation is in line with Cumberland County School District, and all subsequent closure days will align with the school district's decisions as well.

Wednesday Evening Fellowship has been canceled for February 19. If you have already reserved your meal for this date, your reservation will be transferred to the following Wednesday, February 26.
The Chili Cookoff originally scheduled for February 26 has now been canceled, and we will be serving the following menu on that date:

Sammio's Chicken Parmesan, salad bar, breadstick
GF: pasta with marinara and salad bar
Kid's choice: plain pasta, butter and parmesan, fruit and roll

Fellowship Lunch: 
The Fellowship Lunch originally scheduled for Thursday, February 20, has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 27 at noon. If you are still able to attend this lunch, please contact Katherine Pugh at 910-797-9278 to let her know you will be attending.

As always, we want to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our congregation and staff above all else. We will be keeping close watch on this winter storm and its impacts on our area. All subsequent church and preschool closures will be in alignment with the Cumberland County School District.

Throughout the month of January, we bore witness to the devastating wildfires that swept through California, leaving behind a trail of destruction that claimed not only homes and businesses but also the very essence of lives lived within those walls. The loss of a home—an abrupt and traumatic event—resonates deeply, evoking a profound sense of empathy in all of us, even from afar. As we observed the calamity unfold from the opposite coast, many felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness, yearning to provide support to those who, despite the distance, remain close to our hearts. In this moment of collective sorrow, it is imperative to channel that compassion into action. If you feel compelled to assist those affected by these wildfires, I invite you to explore the resources listed below, as every effort, no matter how small, can contribute to the healing and rebuilding of a community in need. Together, we can rise from the ashes of tragedy, fostering hope and resilience in the face of adversity.

Monetary Donations: UMCOR and it’s partners are constantly responding to disasters not just across our country, but around the globe every day. The wildfires in California have been no different. UMCOR has awarded two solidarity grants to the California-Pacific Annual Conference to undergird their immediate relief efforts, including needs such as food and essential supplies for evacuees, and support for volunteer efforts and other relief activities. You can give to UMCOR today by visiting their website: advance.umcmission.org. Other reputable organizations to donate to include The American Red Cross and The California Fire Foundation among others.
 
Raise Awareness: In the increasing digital world that we live in, word travels fast. Consider sharing on your social media different ways to donate to the fire relief effort. Or, consider creating a fundraising goal within your Sunday School class! The more information that is accessible to those around us, the greater the impact will be. 
Donate Blood: Blood donations are always needed in times of crisis. Many people were hurt in their efforts to protect their families and others during the wildfires in California. In addition to there being an increase in need for blood donations due to the injuries in California, the wildfires, in conjunction with the severe winter weather in other parts of the country, have caused many blood donations to go uncollected. The need for blood right now is incredibly urgent. Make an appointment to donate blood today at redcrossblood.org.

While it is easy to underestimate the significance of our individual contributions, it is crucial to recognize that even the smallest acts of kindness can ripple through the lives of others, creating profound and lasting changes. When we collectively commit ourselves to serve the Lord and uplift those who are struggling, we not only provide immediate support to the weak and weary, but we also cultivate a culture of compassion and resilience. Let us embrace this calling with open hearts, knowing that together, our efforts can create a tapestry of support and encouragement that uplifts all.
