Francis Daniel
Reverend Francis Daniel, Lead Pastor
Marvin Francis Daniel was born on July 4, 1952 in Elizabethtown, NC. He is the fourth of six children born to the late Marvin and Juanita Daniel. Reared on a small farm in Bladen County, North Carolina, Rev. Daniel’s early life was a rich mixture of family life and wholesome farm experiences. It was in this environment that we was first introduced to the love of God the atoning work of Jesus as Savior and Lord.    

In 1978, at the age of 25, Rev. Daniel entered the ministry of the United Methodist Church.  He has served the Calvary UMC Charge in Littleton, Hampstead UMC, Hampstead, Divine Street UMC in Dunn, Queen Street UMC in Kinston, Wesley Memorial UMC in Wilmington, Wilmington District Superintendent, Harbor District Superintendent and as lead pastor of Haymount UMC, Fayetteville. He is married to the former Gail Davis, his high school sweetheart. They have three grown children who are married and five grandchildren, all of whom also live in eastern North Carolina.

Rev. Daniel is a graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Pembroke State University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Reverend Benjamin Wolf, Associate Pastor
 
Ben, son of Bryan & Susan Wolf, grew up in Bethlehem UMC (Nashville) and graduated from Nash Central High School in Rocky Mount. In college, Ben was very involved in Duke’s chapter of InterVaristy Christian Fellowship and met his wife Connie Chu freshman year, and they married shortly after graduation. Ben graduated in 2010 with BA in Religion with minors in Education and International Comparative Studies.

Ben continued on at Duke Divinity School and served as a summer intern at Prospect UMC (Yanceyville) and Walnut Grove UMC (Hurdle Mills), completing his Masters of Divinity in 2013. Ben was licensed as a local pastor and appointed by Bishop Hope Morgan Ward to serve the congregation of St. John UMC in Avon on Hatteras Island. Ben was commissioned as a Provisional Elder in 2016 and Bishop Ward reappointed him as the Associate Pastor here at Haymount in July 2016.

As the Associate Pastor, Ben leads and assists in multiple areas, including worship leadership, congregational and pastoral care, outreach, young adults, etc. Contact him if you’d like to get more involved in these areas!
 
Tony Argo Reverend Tony Argo, Minister of Music and Arts
Tony oversees all of the music at Haymount and directs all of the adult choirs and musical ensembles. He is married to Karen, and together they have three published choral anthems. Tony taught choral music in schools in Virginia for five years and music theory for the Armed Forces School in Little Creek, Va for four years. Karen and Tony enjoy antiques, travel, theatre, and just plain talking. He lost his way & the church took him in by God’s Grace in 1978. Thanks be to God! 
Dorothy Funkhouser Dorothy Funkhouser, Director of Christian Education
In charge of all of the children and adult education programming here at Haymount, Dorothy has lived in Fayetteville and been in ministry at HUMC since 1998. She is the proud mother of three wonderful sons and is also a wife, a daughter, and a sister – blessed! Dorothy graduated from Duke University with a Masters in Christian Education.
 Chery Simpson
Sean Garner, Director of Youth and Family Ministries
Sean was born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and married to his wonderful wife, Sommer, who is a private voice teacher (and neither of them are Amish, so don’t ask). Sean has had the privilege of serving the Lord in various positions (ie in the position of Senior Pastor in Daytona Beach FL, and, at various times, of either Director of Worship or Director of Student Ministries in churches in both Florida and Pennsylvania). His extended family (parents, sister and cousins) all call Fayetteville home- and so he and his wife are excited to join them while serving at Haymount UMC. With a primary passion for student ministry, a lot of energy, and a limited selections of clothing (let’s just say you’ll see him in khaki shorts and black shirts…um...a lot), Sean is excited to build on what God has already establish for teens and the opportunity to partner with their parents - making these years an exciting time of growth. His life verse is: “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, God until I declare your power to the next generation” (Psalm 71:18)
 Martha Jones
Martha Jones, Youth Ministry Coordinator
Martha grew up in Fremont, Ohio and attended Clemson University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education.  She taught middle and high school English both in South Carolina and in Florida.  She received a MLS, Master of Library Science degree from Florida State University and worked as a youth and children’s librarian in Florida.  Martha met her husband, Edward, while at Clemson, and they have three children:  Madison, Luke, and Alexander.  Edward is active duty military, and they have been stationed in Clemson, South Carolina, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, and they have been stationed here at Fort Bragg twice.  They have been at Haymount since 2011, and Martha has been on the staff since 2014.  After staying home with her kids for 10 years, Martha feels very blessed to be working with teenagers again.
Eileen Hatch  
Eileen Hatch, Preschool Director
Fayetteville has been Eileen’s home since 1992. She and her husband are the proud parents of two wonderful boys. Eileen is a graduate of Mars Hill College and earned her Early Childhood Administrative Certification from Fayetteville Tech. It is a joy for her to minister to the children and families who come to our preschool every day!
Brynn Franks  
Brynn Franks, Director of Kitchen Ministries
Brynn is a lifelong United Methodist who loves food. She’s fortunate to have been baptized, confirmed, and married by her grandfather who is a retired minister. She is originally from Hagerstown, Maryland and is married to Matt who is a 7th grade Social Studies teacher at Gray's Creek Middle. She has been cooking in professional and nonprofit kitchens since 1998 and has an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts Technology from the Pennsylvania College of Technology. She is an avid fan of thoroughbred horse racing, the Maryland Terrapins, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. She and Matt have a son, Will.
Jennie White Jennie White, Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor
 
Jennie is from Thomson, Georgia and graduated from Tift College with a degree in mathematics. Haymount has been her church home for almost 30 years. Jennie sings in two choirs and the Daughters of Harmony trio; she directs weddings and also coordinates acolytes. She has been married to Kirby, who is retired from the US Air Force, for 50 years and they have two daughters and a granddaughter. Jennie loves working at Haymount (she always wondered what she’d do when she grew up)!
Amy Dean  
Amy Dean, Office Assistant
Amy was raised in Fayetteville and grew up in the Haymount United Methodist Church family. She is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. Amy and her husband, Jerry, were married at Haymount, and they have two children, Curtis and Elizabeth. After living away in Raleigh for 16 years, their family returned to Fayetteville and Haymount in 2003.
 Jay Locklear Jay Locklear, Director of Communications / Worship Leader
Jay grew up in Fayetteville and graduated from Berean Baptist Academy.  Before coming to Haymount, he served on staff at Methodist churches in Lillington, Smithfield and most recently, Sanford.  Jay is married to Heather, who is the daughter of a preacher and a pastor herself, and they have two sons, Anthony and Joshua.

Karen Barkman, Coordinator of Special Projects
Born in Massachusetts and raised in the Midwest, Karen has lived in Fayetteville and belonged to Haymount since 1976. She graduated from Purdue with a BA in English and a Masters in Education. Karen is married to Dave, a veterinarian, and they have three sons, one daughter, and eight grandchildren, two cats and a dog.
Mike Hodgson 
Mike Hodgson, Property Supervisor
Mike joined Haymount UMC in 2007 and became a part of the staff shortly after.  He spent 15 years in the Air Force and 11 years out of the country (mainly in Europe).  Mike is working on his college degree and enjoys studying and reading the Bible and drawing in his spare time.
